LinkedIn QR Code: How to Find, Share and Scan It (Plus the New Digital Business Card)

LinkedIn QR code and the new LinkedIn digital business card explained — Gradezilla

Your LinkedIn QR code is in the LinkedIn mobile app: tap the QR code icon in the search bar at the top of your homepage, then open the My code tab. From there you can share the code or save it to your photos. The Scan tab opens other people’s profiles. LinkedIn is also rolling out a digital business card that, according to early reports, includes a scannable QR code.

Key takeaways

  • Every member has one. LinkedIn says each member has a unique QR code. Find it in the app: QR code icon in the search bar → My code. (LinkedIn Help)
  • Scanning is quick. The Scan tab reads a code with your camera, and Scan from photos reads a saved image. Either one takes you straight to the member’s profile.
  • New: a digital business card. On 15 October 2026 LinkedIn announced a digital business card you can personalize and add to a digital wallet. It is rolling out globally over the coming months. (LinkedIn) Early reports say it shows your headshot, job role and a QR code. (Social Media Today, Forbes)
  • On desktop, use your profile URL. LinkedIn’s QR instructions are for the mobile app. On a computer, share a clean custom URL instead. (LinkedIn Help)

What is a LinkedIn QR code?

A LinkedIn QR code is a scannable code that opens your LinkedIn profile. LinkedIn says it makes it easy to meet someone offline and then stay in touch on LinkedIn: the other person scans your code, lands on your profile and can send you an invitation to connect.

The feature isn’t new. LinkedIn first added profile QR codes in 2018, but those codes had no design options, and Social Media Today notes they never really caught on as a networking tool. In our view, the digital business card announced in October 2026 is LinkedIn’s second attempt, this time with design choices and wallet support.

How do I find my LinkedIn QR code on iPhone or Android?

LinkedIn Help gives the same steps for its iOS and Android apps. First, make sure you have the latest version of the LinkedIn app installed.

  1. Open the LinkedIn app on your phone.
  2. Tap the QR code icon in the search bar at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  3. Tap the My code tab. Your personal QR code appears on screen.

Tip: LinkedIn’s help page for this feature hasn’t been updated in several years, so button labels in your version of the app may look slightly different. The QR icon in the search bar is the place to start.

How do I share or save my LinkedIn QR code?

On the My code tab, LinkedIn gives you two options:

  • Share my code: sends your QR code by message, email or another app on your phone.
  • Save to photos: saves a copy of your QR code to your phone’s photo gallery.

In our view, saving the code to your photos is the most useful option. Once it’s an image, you can put it on the last slide of a talk, a printed event badge, a booth sign or the back of a paper business card. That way people can connect with you without typing your name into LinkedIn search.

How do I scan someone else’s LinkedIn QR code?

  1. Open the LinkedIn app and tap the QR code icon in the search bar.
  2. Tap the Scan tab.
  3. Hold your phone over the other member’s QR code. To scan a code you saved earlier, tap Scan from photos and choose the image.
  4. LinkedIn opens their profile, where you can send an invitation to connect.

Can I get a LinkedIn QR code on desktop?

LinkedIn’s QR code help article covers only the mobile app. On a computer, the practical alternative is your public profile URL, which LinkedIn assigns automatically when you create your profile. You can replace it with a cleaner custom version:

  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage and choose View Profile.
  2. Click the edit icon next to Public profile & URL on the right.
  3. Under Edit your custom URL, click the edit icon next to your current URL.
  4. Type the last part of your new URL and click Save.

LinkedIn’s rules: a custom URL can be 3–100 characters long. It can’t contain spaces, symbols, special characters or the word “LinkedIn”. Custom URLs are first come, first served. You can change yours up to five times within six months, and your old URL stays linked to you for six months unless you unlink it. LinkedIn recommends a variation of your name or professional brand. (LinkedIn Help)

What is the new LinkedIn digital business card?

On 15 October 2026, LinkedIn announced a digital business card: a personalized card that shows your professional identity, which you can add to your digital wallet and use to stay in touch with people you meet in person. LinkedIn says it is “rolling out globally over the coming months.”

Here’s what the reporting so far says the card includes:

  • Your headshot and job role, taken from your LinkedIn profile (Social Media Today, Forbes).
  • A scannable QR code that lets someone connect with you on LinkedIn.
  • Several design layouts to choose from, so you can customize how the card looks.
  • Wallet support: Forbes reports you can save the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. LinkedIn’s own announcement says “digital wallet” without naming one.

Forbes also reports that the card doesn’t require a Premium subscription. According to Social Media Today, LinkedIn showed the card at its “Connection by Design” event in the week before 18 October. Forbes contributor William Arruda, who attended LinkedIn’s press event in New York, writes that only two of roughly 200 attendees raised their hands when asked whether they had brought paper business cards.

What else did LinkedIn announce on 15 October 2026?

The business card was part of a wider set of announcements about networking, side businesses and creators. Here’s what LinkedIn said about each one:

FeatureWhat it doesAvailability (per LinkedIn)
Network feedA separate feed of posts from your connections and the people you followTest in select markets, including the U.S., India and Australia
Profile notesPrivate notes on a profile: where you met, what you discussed, when to follow upPremium subscribers, globally

In-Stream AdsEligible creators earn revenue from pre-roll video ads on their eligible videosTest with select U.S. creators and advertisers
Advice SessionsPaid 1:1 consultations booked, paid for and held on LinkedInBusiness Premium subscribers in the U.S.

LinkedIn also shared some of its own figures: founders on LinkedIn are up 70%, more than 80% of LinkedIn creators make content alongside another role, and, according to LinkedIn’s research, more than half of Gen Z are unsure what to do after making a connection. These are LinkedIn’s figures, and the announcement doesn’t explain how they were measured.

How should marketers and business owners use a LinkedIn QR code?

In our view, the QR code (and soon the card) only helps if what people land on is ready. Someone who scans your code at an event decides in a few seconds whether to connect. Your photo, headline and “About” section are doing the selling. If you’re still defining what you stand for, read our guide on marketing vs branding, and get clear on who your target audience is before you rewrite your headline.

For business owners in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf who meet clients at exhibitions, workshops and meetings, a scannable profile is a simple way to turn a conversation into a lasting contact. Our guide to getting more leads from social media without paid ads shows how to follow up once the connection is made. If your clients prefer WhatsApp, WhatsApp usernames offer a similar way to share contact details without handing out your number.

What to do now: a 7-step checklist

  1. Update the LinkedIn app and find your code: QR icon in the search bar → My code.
  2. Fix your profile first. Early reports say the digital business card pulls your headshot and job role from your profile, so make sure both are current.
  3. Claim a clean custom URL (Me → View Profile → Public profile & URL), ideally a variation of your name.
  4. Save your QR code to photos so you can show it, print it or add it to slides even without a signal.
  5. Practice scanning with a colleague using the Scan tab so it’s quick at your next event.
  6. Follow up the same week (our recommendation): send a short message that mentions where you met. If you have Premium, LinkedIn’s new profile notes can store that context.
  7. Watch for the digital business card in your app over the coming months, design it, and add it to your phone’s wallet.
