Meta Ads Super Burst and First Impression Ads: What Marketers Need to Know

Meta Ads Super Burst and First Impression Ads explained, Gradezilla featured image

Meta Ads Super Burst lets brands book a 3- to 24-hour window of guaranteed reach across Facebook and Instagram. Meta announced it on 15 October 2026 at its Brand Building Summit, alongside a US test of First Impression Ads (the first ad slot in Facebook Feed), more Reels Trending Ads topics and a new attention metric called Aggregated View Time. Here is what each one does and who it suits.

Key takeaways

  • Ads Super Burst: book a 3–24 hour reach window on Facebook and Instagram, planned in Reach Planner, with optional category exclusivity. Rolling out in phases from October 2026.
  • First Impression Ads: the first ad position in Facebook Feed, one brand per day. An early test in the US only.
  • Reels Trending Ads: now 15 always-on topics plus seasonal lineups; custom audience exclusions are coming later in 2026.
  • Aggregated View Time: an alpha metric that adds up a person’s viewing time with a brand across a week.
  • Pricing: Meta has not published prices, a country list or a minimum spend for any of these.

What did Meta announce at the Brand Building Summit?

Meta used its Brand Building Summit on 15 October 2026 to pitch Facebook and Instagram as places to build brands, not only to drive clicks and sales. According to Social Media Today and PPC Land, it announced two new ways to buy premium exposure, an expansion of an existing Reels product and a new way to measure video attention.

What is Meta Ads Super Burst and how does it work?

Ads Super Burst is a reservation product. Instead of bidding in the auction, you book a fixed window of between 3 and 24 hours, and Meta says you get “TV-like scale” inside that window. Meta’s examples are launches, awards nights and sports season openers (PPC Land).

Here is how it works, based on what Meta has shared so far:

  1. Plan in Reach Planner. You choose the window and audience, and Reach Planner shows estimated reach and price.
  2. Reserve the inventory. Meta says delivery is guaranteed against those Reach Planner estimates.
  3. Add category exclusivity if you want it. Meta says that with exclusivity, no other advertiser in your category can book the same window.
  4. Run the burst. Your ads deliver across Facebook and Instagram inside the 3–24 hour window you booked.

Super Burst builds on Meta’s older Reach and Frequency buying, which Meta renamed Reservation in October 2023. PPC Land notes that Reservation requires a minimum audience of 200,000 and is limited to awareness and engagement objectives. Meta has not said whether Super Burst uses the same rules.

What results does Meta report for Super Burst?

These are Meta’s own figures from test campaigns over “the past few months”, reported by PPC Land and Campaigns of the World:

  • A median of 34 million people reached per flight, which Meta says is about 14% of US adults online in a single day.
  • A median lift of 2.9 points in ad recall and 0.6 points in intent.

Meta has not shared the baselines, sample sizes or exact markets behind these numbers, so treat them as the vendor’s claims, not benchmarks. Kathryn Quart, VP Planning at Spark Foundry, said their “12-hour activation was seamless to execute” and “performed exactly as expected” (PPC Land), but she shared no client name or numbers.

What are First Impression Ads on Facebook?

First Impression Ads give one brand per day the first ad position people see in their Facebook Feed. Meta says advertisers “have asked us for the first ad position in Feed for years” (as quoted by Social Media Today), and it is now testing the format in the United States. Meta calls it an early test.

Meta has not said how brands are chosen, how the slot is priced or when it might expand. PPC Land says it resembles TikTok’s TopFeed, the first ad in TikTok’s For You feed, and Social Media Today notes that LinkedIn, Snapchat and TikTok already sell similar priority placements.

What changed in Reels Trending Ads?

Reels Trending Ads are not new. They place your ad right after popular Reels on Facebook and Instagram, and Meta opened them to all advertisers in 2025. The update adds more ways to choose where your ads appear (PPC Land, Adgully):

  • 15 always-on standard topics, including new Home & Garden and Spanish-language categories.
  • Seasonal lineups for the holidays and the football and basketball seasons.
  • Custom audience exclusions, which Meta says are coming later in 2026.

Meta reports a lift of more than 5 points in action intent compared with people who saw no campaign, and a 5-point lift in unaided brand awareness. PPC Land points out that the intent comparison is against no exposure at all, not against the same campaign without the trending placement, so it does not isolate the value of the placement itself.

What is Aggregated View Time?

Aggregated View Time is a measurement concept, not an ad format. It adds up the seconds a person spends with a brand’s video ads across a week instead of judging each view separately. Meta says it is in alpha and could later be used to optimise delivery (PPC Land).

Meta’s claim is that five seconds of attention spread across a week drove 32% more offline sales than one continuous five-second view. PPC Land notes that Meta has cited different figures for similar research before (for example 21%), so in our view the direction is more useful than the exact number: short, repeated exposures can add up. That matters if you already measure reach and frequency, which we explain in our guide to impressions vs reach.

Is Ads Super Burst available in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf?

Meta has not published a country list. It says general availability is rolling out in phases from October 2026, and its test figures refer to US audiences. Adgully describes the rollout as global and phased, but no market dates have been given.

In our view, two things matter for marketers in Lebanon and the Gulf:

  • Most budgets will stay in the auction. Reservation products are built for large, time-bound brand moments. For most small and mid-sized businesses, auction campaigns in Ads Manager give more control over cost per result. If you are unsure which tool fits, start with our guide to boosting vs Ads Manager.
  • Big moments are where it could fit. A product launch, a store opening or a major seasonal campaign is the kind of short window where reaching many people in one day can matter more than the cheapest click.

How does Super Burst compare with normal auction campaigns?

Ads Super Burst (reservation)Auction campaigns (Ads Manager)
PricingBooked in advance; Reach Planner estimates reach and priceSet by the auction; costs change with competition
DeliveryMeta says delivery is guaranteed against the estimatesNot guaranteed; depends on budget and bids
TimingA fixed 3–24 hour windowAny schedule you choose
CompetitorsOptional category exclusivity for that windowCompetitors can run at the same time
Best forLaunches, events and big seasonal momentsOngoing sales, leads and testing

This fits a wider pattern. Meta is adding more automation to everyday buying, such as the agent features we covered in Meta’s AI business assistant and product browsing in ads, while selling premium, more controlled placements to big brands. TikTok is moving in a similar direction, as we noted in our TikTok Ads updates for October 2026.

What should marketers do now?

  • Check Reach Planner in your account over the coming weeks to see whether Super Burst appears for your market.
  • List your next big brand moment (a launch, an event, a seasonal campaign) and estimate how much reach you would need in one day.
  • Ask your Meta representative, if you have one, about pricing, minimum spend and category exclusivity.
  • Keep your always-on sales and lead campaigns in the auction; don’t move budget until you have real price estimates.
  • Track reach and frequency, not only clicks, so you can judge brand campaigns fairly.
  • Make Reels-first creative: Meta says Reels now take up more than half of time spent on Instagram, so trending placements need vertical video that works without sound. Our guide to viral Reels covers the basics.

FAQ

What is Meta Ads Super Burst?

Ads Super Burst is a reservation product that lets a brand book a 3- to 24-hour window on Facebook and Instagram to reach a large audience in a short time. You plan it in Reach Planner, which gives reach and price estimates, and Meta says delivery is guaranteed against those estimates.

Is Ads Super Burst available outside the United States?

Meta says general availability is rolling out in phases from October 2026, but it has not published a country list, a minimum spend or pricing. Meta’s test results refer to US audiences. If you advertise in Lebanon or the Gulf, ask your Meta representative or check Reach Planner in your own account.

What are First Impression Ads?

First Impression Ads give one brand per day the first ad position people see in their Facebook Feed. Meta calls it an early test, and it is running in the United States only. Meta has not said how brands are selected or how the slot is priced.

How much does Ads Super Burst cost?

Meta has not published pricing. Reach Planner shows estimated reach and price when you plan a booking, and Social Media Today describes it as a higher-end option with higher costs.

What does category exclusivity mean in Ads Super Burst?

Meta says that with category exclusivity, no other advertiser in your category can book the same window. Meta describes exclusivity as available, which suggests it is an option rather than a default, and it has not defined how categories work.

What changed in Reels Trending Ads?

Reels Trending Ads place your ad right after popular Reels on Facebook and Instagram. Meta now offers 15 always-on standard topics, including new Home & Garden and Spanish-language categories, plus seasonal lineups, and says custom audience exclusions are coming later in 2026.

What is Aggregated View Time?

Aggregated View Time is a measurement concept in alpha that adds up the seconds a person spends with a brand’s video ads across a week, instead of scoring each view on its own. Meta says five seconds of attention spread over a week drove 32% more offline sales than one continuous five-second view. That is Meta’s own figure.

Should small businesses use Ads Super Burst?

In our view, most small businesses should stay with auction campaigns, which give more control over budget. Super Burst is built for big, time-bound brand moments such as launches or major events, where reaching many people in one day matters more than cost per result.
