Meta is testing ad-agent features in its AI business assistant. At Advertising Week New York on 6 October 2026, Meta said advertisers will soon be able to ask the assistant in Ads Manager to plan and create campaigns, generate creative, update targeting and change budgets. Meta says previews, approvals and controls will let advertisers decide which tasks they delegate to AI. Several tools announced alongside the agent features are available now.
Key takeaways
- In testing: agent actions in the Meta AI business assistant (campaigns, creative, targeting, budgets), scheduled tasks and alerts, and importing brand guidelines from other AI tools.
- Available now: video generated from static images in Advantage+ creative, and Customer Lifecycle Strategy for all advertisers.
- Rolling out: Ads Creative Studio to more advertisers, and catalog product video in beta for eligible advertisers.
- By the end of 2026: AI audience discovery, where you describe your ideal customer in plain language and Ads Manager suggests audiences.
- Meta’s own figure: advertisers who adopt the assistant’s recommendations typically see 5% more conversions at the same cost per conversion than advertisers who don’t.
What did Meta announce at Advertising Week 2026?
Meta used its Advertising Week New York presentation on 6 October 2026 to show how much day-to-day campaign work it wants AI to take on. The announcements cover the Meta AI business assistant, AI creative tools, AI targeting, the Meta Ads MCP server and checkout inside conversations.
The business assistant itself isn’t new. Meta first launched it for U.S. small businesses in October 2025, then expanded the beta in April 2026 to advertisers and agencies of all sizes across major markets and languages, inside Ads Manager, Meta Business Suite and Business Support Home. So far it has mostly recommended optimizations and fixed account problems such as spend limits, disabled accounts and payment errors. What’s new is that Meta is testing letting it do the work, not just suggest it.
Meta did not list countries for the October announcements, so availability may vary from one ad account to another.
What can the Meta AI business assistant do, and what is still in testing?
| Capability | What it does | Status (October 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Agent actions | Plans and creates campaigns, generates images and ad text, updates targeting and changes budgets from conversational requests | Testing |
| Memory | Keeps context across conversations, such as what you tried last quarter, your seasonality and the goals you described | Announced |
| Creative insights | Brings Ads Creative Studio insights into campaign planning | Announced |
| Import | Brings in your strategy, brand voice and brand guidelines from other AI tools | Testing |
| Scheduled tasks and alerts | Handles recurring work such as performance monitoring, weekly summaries and budget-review reminders | Testing |
| Recommendations and account fixes | Suggests optimizations and resolves issues like spend limits and payment errors | Beta; expanded to all advertiser sizes in April 2026 |
Meta says previews, approvals and controls will let advertisers decide which tasks they delegate to AI. It also says advertisers who adopt the assistant’s recommendations typically see 5% more conversions at the same cost per conversion than advertisers who don’t. That is Meta’s own number, and its announcement doesn’t explain how the comparison was built.

What is Ads Creative Studio?
Ads Creative Studio is Meta’s AI creative workspace. It analyzes your performance and audience data to show which creatives are working and why, then helps you build the next versions. For video, it can generate new concepts and variations, and edit hooks, audio, clip length, text overlays, captions and end scenes.
It launched earlier in 2026 for selected partners and is now rolling out to more advertisers. Video is a clear priority: Meta says more than 60% of the time people spend on Facebook and Instagram is spent with video. If you only run static images, turning your best one into a video with Advantage+ creative is the quickest test you can run this week. Our article on AI video ads in 2026 covers what makes these ads work.
How will AI audience discovery work?
Instead of picking interests one by one, you describe your ideal customer in plain language, and Ads Manager surfaces the audiences it considers most relevant inside Detailed Targeting. A children’s clothing store in Riyadh, for example, might describe “parents who shop online for kids’ clothes before the school year starts.”
Meta says this arrives by the end of 2026. It won’t fix weak creative or a poor landing page, but it should cut the time spent hunting through interest lists.
What is Customer Lifecycle Strategy in Meta Ads?
Customer Lifecycle Strategy lets you tell Meta what a campaign is for. When you mark a campaign as acquisition, Meta recommends excluding your existing customers, so you can avoid paying to reach people who have already bought from you.
It is available to all advertisers now. Meta is also testing an Audience Label that excludes an entire group of existing customers with a single label, instead of building and maintaining exclusion lists by hand.
What is the Meta Ads MCP server?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI tools connect to other software. Meta’s Ads MCP server lets marketers work on campaigns from the AI tools they already use. The October expansion, aimed at larger advertisers and agencies, adds workflows to upload creative, preview ads on Facebook and Instagram, and track performance through trends and breakdowns.
The safeguards matter as much as the features. Work prepared by an AI agent can arrive in Ads Manager as a draft, so a person and an agent can work on the same campaign. Meta says every action depends on permissions the advertiser sets, and nothing is published without explicit approval.
What changes for checkout inside chats?
Meta is testing direct checkout for Shopify products through Meta Business Agent on Messenger, so a customer can complete a purchase in the same conversation where they asked about the product. A similar test inside Meta AI, with Adyen, PayPal, Shopify and Stripe, starts this fall. If you answer customers on WhatsApp or Messenger, read our explainer on Meta Business Agent.
Will Meta’s AI replace media buyers?
Not based on what Meta announced. Meta is testing letting the assistant change campaigns, but it still works from the tracking, goals and creative you give it, and Meta says advertisers will decide which tasks to delegate. In our view, what changes is where a marketer’s time goes: less clicking through settings, more time on strategy, creative direction, measurement and checking the AI’s decisions.
That makes the fundamentals more valuable, not less. If you can’t tell whether a budget shift between ad sets makes sense, you can’t judge the agent that made it. Start with CBO vs ABO and ad sets vs ads, then read how AI is redefining marketing roles.
What should advertisers in Lebanon and the Gulf do now?
- Check your own Ads Manager. Meta didn’t list countries for these features, so look for the assistant and the new options in your account instead of assuming.
- Fix measurement first. An AI that optimizes on broken conversion data optimizes for the wrong thing. Make sure your Pixel and Conversions API events fire correctly before you hand anything over.
- Use Customer Lifecycle Strategy on acquisition campaigns so you can avoid paying to reach existing customers.
- Turn your best static ad into video with Advantage+ creative and compare it against your current creative.
- Write a one-page brand guide covering your tone, the words you never use and the claims you can’t make, so it’s ready to import if and when that feature reaches your account.
- Set approval rules now. Decide who signs off budget changes, and the highest daily budget anyone, human or AI, can set without approval.
- Keep a weekly human review. Even with scheduled AI summaries, someone should check results against your actual sales.
