“Gemini for small business” is our shorthand for a new set of business tools inside the Gemini app that Google announced on 20 October 2026. It adds a business landing page, saves your brand style for on-brand images, turns spreadsheets and receipts into financial charts, and connects apps such as Google Business Profile, Google Ads, Canva and Shopify. Google says it is rolling out globally to all Gemini app users.
Key takeaways
- What it is: a business landing page in the Gemini app, plus marketing and finance skills and new connected apps (Google, 20 October 2026).
- Brand visuals: upload your website, brand kit, fonts or colour palette once, and Gemini keeps that style for images made with Nano Banana 2.1, which Google calls its latest image generation model.
- Connected apps: Google Business Profile, Google Ads and Google Workspace, plus Adobe, Canva, Dropbox, Shopify, Wix, Zoho and Xero.
- The catch for Lebanon and the Gulf: most connections need a personal Google Account and work in English only; Shopify and Dropbox are US only and Zoho is India only.
- Google’s own figure: Google says “tens of millions” of small business owners already use Gemini. It gives no breakdown.
What did Google announce for small businesses in Gemini?
In a post on Google’s blog on 20 October 2026, Vishnu Sivaji, Senior Director of the Gemini app, announced a business landing page inside Gemini. Google describes it as a central place where owners can build their brand, analyze their finances and review customer insights (Google).
Alongside the page, Google announced three things: brand-specific visuals, real-time financial insights and a wider set of connected apps. Google says the landing page, the marketing and finance skills and the new connected apps are beginning to roll out “in the coming days” globally for all Gemini app users. So if you don’t see them yet, that is expected.
Google did not publish a price, a required subscription tier or a country list in the announcement. Social Media Today’s coverage on 22 October did not add any availability or pricing details either (Social Media Today).
What can Gemini for small business actually do?
Here is what Google says each piece does, and what it means in day-to-day marketing work.
| Feature | What Google says it does | Practical use for a marketer |
|---|---|---|
| Business landing page | One hub for building a brand, analyzing finances and reviewing customer insights | A starting point for routine tasks instead of a blank chat box |
| Brand style for visuals | Upload a website, brand kit, fonts or colour palettes; Gemini keeps the style and uses Nano Banana 2.1 for launch and campaign visuals | Draft social posts, product visuals and promo images that stay on-brand without re-uploading guidelines |
| Financial insights | Turns spreadsheets, receipts and purchase records into financial graphics and interactive models “in seconds” | Quick charts of sales or ad spend for a weekly review, to check against your own reports |
| Connected apps | Links Gemini to Google Business Profile, Google Ads, Google Workspace and seven third-party apps | Ask questions about your profile, campaigns or files from one chat |
Google illustrated the launch with five owners it selected, including Morgane, a ceramicist in Bordeaux who runs Bleu Clémentine, who says Gemini saves her “two to three hours every day” writing product descriptions, newsletters and social media hooks. That is Google’s example, not a measured average. If you are new to writing prompts for these tasks, our guide to writing better prompts in Google Gemini is a good place to start.
Which apps can you connect to Gemini, and where do they work?
This is where the details matter for readers in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. Google’s Connected Apps help table lists the requirements for each connection. Here is what it showed when we checked on 25 October 2026 (Google Connected Apps table).
| App | Account | Where | Language |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Ads | Personal Google Account, 18+ | Countries where Gemini Apps and Google Ads are supported | English only |
| Google Business Profile | Personal Google Account, 18+ | Countries where the Gemini web app is supported | All Gemini web app languages |
| Google Workspace | Personal, work or school account, 13+ | Where Gemini Apps and Workspace are supported | All Gemini web app languages |
| Canva | Personal Google Account, 13+ | Where Gemini Apps and Canva are supported | English only |
| Adobe, Wix, Xero | Personal Google Account, 18+ | Where Gemini Apps and the app are supported | English only |
| Shopify, Dropbox | Personal Google Account, 18+ | US only | English only |
| Zoho (Bigin, CRM, Desk, Mail, Projects) | Personal Google Account, 18+ | India only | English only |
In our view, three points stand out. First, almost every connection needs a personal Google Account, so a business that runs everything on a company Workspace account will be limited to the Workspace connection for now. Second, if your team writes prompts in Arabic, the Google Business Profile and Workspace connections are the ones listed for all Gemini web app languages; the other connections in the table above are English only. Third, the Shopify connection is not an option in Lebanon or the Gulf yet, even though Shopify is one of the headline partners.
What can Gemini do with your Google Business Profile?
In our view, this is the most useful connection for local businesses, and it can make changes, not just read data. Google’s help page lists these actions (Google Business Profile Help):
- Update your profile: change hours, including special holiday hours, manage food menus, upload photos, and edit attributes, contact info, social links and booking or ordering links.
- Engage with customers: view star ratings and reviews, draft or delete review replies, and create, schedule, publish or delete Update, Offer and Event posts.
- See insights: review impressions, website clicks, direction requests and bookings, and the search keywords customers used to find you.
The same page sets clear limits. You must be 18 or over, sign in with a personal Google Account linked to the profile, keep the Keep Activity setting turned on, and use the Gemini web app at gemini.google.com. It is not available if you own or manage more than one verified Business Profile, which, for now, rules out agencies and multi-location businesses.
How do you set up Gemini for your business?
- Sign in at gemini.google.com with the personal Google Account that owns or manages your Business Profile or Google Ads account.
- Open the connected apps settings. Google’s help centre says to click Customize in the sidebar, then Connectors, then Add next to an app; Canva’s help page describes the path as Settings, Personal Intelligence, Connected Apps (Google, Canva). Menus can differ while the rollout continues.
- Alternatively, type @ in the prompt box and pick the app, for example @Google Business Profile. If it isn’t connected, Gemini will ask your permission.
- Add your brand style: your website, brand kit, fonts or colour palette, so image requests come back in your look.
- Start with low-risk tasks, such as summarizing reviews or drafting a post, and approve every change before it goes live.
Is Gemini for small business the same as Gemini Enterprise?
No. Google’s announcement points larger businesses to a separate Gemini offering for businesses with centralized admin controls, advanced data governance and enterprise-grade security (Google Cloud). The tools announced on 20 October sit in the regular Gemini app. If you search for “Gemini for business”, many results describe that enterprise product, which is a different thing from the small-business landing page.
What are the risks and limits?
Google makes no claims about the accuracy of the financial insights, and it has not said how many brand styles you can save or whether an agency can switch between clients. Social Media Today also pointed out the inherent risk of trusting sensitive business data to AI tools.
In our view, treat Gemini as a fast assistant, not an accountant or a media buyer. Check its numbers against your bookkeeping, keep a human approval step for anything that publishes, and keep customer data out of uploads unless the task needs it. The same thinking applies to the AI layers inside ad platforms, such as AI Max for Search in Google Ads and Meta’s AI business assistant, and to the wider shift towards agentic AI.
What should you do now?
- Check which Google account owns or manages your Business Profile and Google Ads; most connections need a personal account.
- Look for the business landing page in the Gemini app over the coming days, as the rollout is gradual.
- Prepare a simple brand kit: logo, two or three colours, fonts and your website link.
- Connect Google Business Profile first if you have a single location, and test review summaries and post drafts.
- Write prompts in English for connections listed as English only.
- Keep a manual check on any change Gemini makes to your profile, posts or campaigns.
Frequently asked questions
What is Gemini for small business?
It is the name we use for the business features Google announced in the Gemini app on 20 October 2026: a business landing page for brand, finance and customer-insight tasks, saved brand styles for image generation, financial charts from your files, and new connected apps such as Google Business Profile, Google Ads, Canva and Shopify. Google says they are rolling out globally to all Gemini app users.
Is Gemini for small business free?
Google’s announcement does not mention a price or a required plan. It says the landing page, marketing and finance skills and new connected apps are rolling out to all Gemini app users. Usage limits for image generation or other features may still depend on your plan, so check inside the app.
Can I connect Google Ads to Gemini?
Yes. Google’s Connected Apps table lists Google Ads for personal Google Accounts, users aged 18 or over, in countries where both Gemini Apps and Google Ads are supported. The connection is English only and works in chats on the Gemini web app, mobile app and Windows app.
Does the Shopify connection work in Lebanon or Saudi Arabia?
Not at the time of writing. Google’s Connected Apps table lists the Shopify connection as US only and English only. Dropbox is also US only, and the Zoho apps are India only.
What can Gemini do with my Google Business Profile?
According to Google’s help page, Gemini can update hours, photos, contact details and links, show ratings and reviews, draft or delete review replies, create and schedule posts, and show performance metrics and the search keywords people used to find you. You need to be 18 or over, with a personal Google Account, one verified profile only, Keep Activity turned on, and the Gemini web app.
Is this the same as Gemini Enterprise or Gemini for business?
No. Google points larger companies to a separate Gemini offering for businesses with centralized admin controls, data governance and enterprise security. The small-business features announced on 20 October live in the regular Gemini app and mostly require a personal Google Account.
Should I upload financial records to Gemini?
In our view, only after checking what you are sharing. Google does not make claims about the accuracy of the financial insights, so verify any numbers against your accounting records, and remove customer or employee details you don’t need for the analysis.
